This sport would be fun if it wasn't for all the running...

Recap of the last couple of weeks

Last Thursday I had family come into town, a nice little surprise.  My uncle Forest, Greg, and my grandmother came over to my parents side of town and we met up for dinner.  It was wonderful to see them as always.  I had pictures but they all were quite frankly bad.  There were windows behind everyone which caused a glare that wiped everyone out.
Then on Tuesday I went for my run with the Team in Training folks on a lovely 100 degree day.  And while I thought the lovely part would be sarcastic, it really was a nice jog.  On the way home to shower before going out I saw these guys.  Dressed in full out costumes sword fighting.  It was one of those where I had to stop and rub my eyes thinking that the heat had gotten to me. Then I went out with Zac to see a local 'cabaret' show.  The queens were lovely and ridiculously talented, and quite frankly anyone who jumps off of a stage and lands in a split deserves my dollars as well as the makeup, theatrics, costumes, and lets be frank, the tucking.  I think that is why I don't really get the kings- that's how many people dress anyways.  Again no pictures because it was really humid outside, I had on no make up and the angle was bad.  So if you would like a visual, picture a shiny ball with shoulder length dark hair and dark circles.
Wednesday there was more Zumba and for those of you keeping count it was class number four and so far my Latin heritage has not come to class with me.  Only the German shows up.  Luckily it is fun enough that I don't care how uncoordinated and awkward I am (I think that may be the Scottish).
Thursday I didn't feel so hot so I went home and slept for about 90 hours.  Also on Thursday I had phone issues.  The phone stopped making and receiving phone calls, but I could still do everything else on it.  I got the 'new' one on Friday and sent off the old one to be checked.
On Friday Matt, Pierre, and I went out with David to celebrate his birthday at Macaroni Grill, which was delish.  Though I really overdid it and should have chosen my food a little more carefully.
Because on Saturday I was supposed to go to work a triathlon.  But my body had other ideas and said "no, Melissa, we are not going to do that".  So I lounged and took drugs most of Saturday.
Then this morning I got up and did a nice easy five close to home in case my body decided to rebel.
In other news, coming up this week there is Dream Dinners delivery for those who had ordered them, running, LLS TNT clinic, Zumba, running, zpizza percent event (25% of proceeds go to my fundraising goal!- see flyer), running, and more fundraising.  And speaking of fundraising, if any of you have any ideas of things I can do please let me know!  And a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
It's going to be another busy week!

Week so far

Monday night we had a TNT meeting at Fleet Feet to go over some of the different aspects of running that can mess one up, from nutrition to shoes to bras to hydration.  While in the store I resisted the lure of the Sweaty Bands but did pick up this cute shirt for their pub runs.  I haven't made it to one since the winter but I have high hopes to start up again.
Tuesday started with a brutal headache but it ended with a nice easy four mile run and I picked up a couple more items for the auction at the wine tasting on July 12th.
Today I Zumbaed (I don't even think that's a word).  Which was fun, though I am hopelessly uncoordinated and I got a note from DiPrato's that they will be donating a gift certificate for the event as well.  Remember if you are interested in attending please shoot me a message as their are only fifty tickets available for the event.  Also, don't forget to click on the widget on the right if you want to learn more about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

It all adds up...

As I finish the steps at the State House
I went for a nice, easy three miles today. It was a very nice day to run despite being in the 90's.  Those three miles will amount to $0.75. Another participant had a great idea to donate per mile trained. So for every mile I run while preparing for the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, I will be donating $0.25 cents.  I would love it if you guys would make a donation too.
After the run, I ran by VISTA Ballroom to pick up the certificate for the wine tasting on July 12th.  We are getting some great items sent in.  Please see me if you are interested in purchasing a ticket. They are $20 each and include wine and snacks.

Doing a little crafting

I have spent the past couple of hours working on/playing with etching glass to complete a few items for the auction that will be held during the wine tasting for July 12th.  Here is what I have so far:

The candle holder was me playing, the wine glasses will be up for bid.  I also decorated the tester glass and a fish bowl and I will prolly attack some other glass items in my house before the night is over.

Welcome to Moe's

Well today was national running day and I was kinda slack because today was also the percent event at Moe's supporting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and I was "running" around with that.  This was one of the many events I am trying to hold to help with fundraising for the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon event for LLS TNT (to learn more about it please click on the link on the right side of the page).  I won't know for a little while how we how much was raised but a HUGE thank you to all who came out and supported this event.
Up next on the calendar is a wine tasting event on July 12th.  Please let me know if you would like to come.  Tickets are $20 per person and I am working on collecting items for a raffle and/or a silent auction.  Several companies have already come through for this event- Starbucks, Melting Pot, Cupcake, Jimmy Johns, Carmen! Carmen! Salon and I am still trying to talk to several others.  I am really excited about this event and I hope you will be too!
